Our Vision

Uniting Communities and Celebrating Abilities

At Pathfinders Cymru, we envision a future where all young people,

9including those with learning challenges, neurodiversity, and mental health needs) have access to inclusive spaces that are safe, aspirational, and designed with them, not just for them.

We’re building a model of inclusion that moves beyond tokenism. One where accessibility is standard, support is person-led, and community means everyone.

Why We’re Doing This

Too many young people with additional needs fall through the gaps in education, employment, and support. Many are isolated, anxious, or excluded; not by lack of potential, but by lack of the right environment.

Current post-16 and post-18 options often do not meet the needs of learners who need more time, different pathways, or trauma-informed spaces.

Families feel burnt out.

Young people feel invisible.

We believe that must change.

Our Commitment

  • To co-design inclusive spaces with young people and families

  • To offer skills, qualifications, and supported enterprise opportunities

  • To open community access to those traditionally excluded

  • To champion neurodiversity, self-advocacy, and community belonging

Our Hub Plans

We’re working toward creating a flagship community hub: a base for inclusive skills, independence, and social connection.

Key features will include:

  • Supported Enterprise Units: Helping young people explore self-employment or enter supported internships

  • Inclusive Exam Centre: A trauma-informed, accessible alternative for external GCSE candidates

  • Therapeutic & Advocacy Services: Onsite mental health support, sensory regulation, and family advocacy

  • Training Facilities: Delivering AQA Unit Awards, Young Enterprise, and vocational programmes

  • Digital Access: Inclusive tech, 3D printing, assistive tools, and supported IT learning

  • Shared Community Spaces: A library, garden, and social café open to all; not just ‘service users’

How We’re Building It

We are consulting directly with young people, families, and neurodivergent professionals to shape every element of this hub. It won’t be a one-size-fits-all centre. It will be a living, learning space where inclusion is the foundation, not an afterthought.

Join Us In Shaping the Future

We’re currently seeking funding, partnerships, and support to make this vision a reality. Whether you’re a parent, educator, policymaker, or funder, we invite you to work with us.
